Today we are proud to announce the release of Backtrack Regular!
Backtrack Regular was a challenging font to create. The font was inspired by a graphic from the New York hardcore band Backtrack. From the graphic, we took the offset shadow, the cracks, and the shading concepts.
From there, we searched for a heavyweight sans serif to use as a letter template. We then sketched out the font in Illustrator, taking care to find the perfect shading brush. We took extreme care to ensure that all the components were kept separate so that we would be able to create as many variations on the font as possible. We weren't successful!
Our next attempt came in Photoshop. It took a long time to find the perfect shading brush, and once again we kept everything in separate layers for the most flexibility, and finished the font in Illustrator. However when we tried to import the font into a font program, it fell apart.
After a lot of hard work, and a lot of missteps, the final product is now here!
